Congratulations on the launch of Covent Garden Magazine!

First off, I’d like to thank all the families that came out to support The High Park Nature Centre at Totstock last month. Over 1000 talls and smalls showed up to listen to local musicians, hear stories and make nature-themed crafts. Thank you so much to our sponsors, over 30 volunteers and especially to our partners Chris Reed, Don Kerr and Gillian Anderson, who went all out to create a joyful family celebration. Thanks also to the staff and volunteers from The Nature Centre, Rebecca from Bunch Family, the Westend Co-op and the RMRA for their enthusiasm and support!
There are certainly lots of adventures to be had in your own backyard… trying every flavour of ice-cream at your local parlour, chasing kids through the sprinker and enjoying long un-structured mornings with a coffee, a sippy cup and a sand box, but we’ve scoured the city and found some noteworthy events and neighbourhoods so good you might just want to leave home. (And they’re good for you too!)

AUGUST IS HERE and there is still so much to do, so many festivals, camps and neighbourhood events not to mention the library, the pool and on the islands. With only five weekends left before September, we’re checking our lists and picking favourites. There are 11 of us at The Little Paper now with 16 smalls in tow and everybody has something they just can’t miss before September rolls in.
It seems to stretch out before us like an enormous picnic blanket flung onto the grass and then, suddenly, it’s August and we can count the last weeks of summer on one hand.
