Hallowe’en | Toronto Pumpkin Parades 2017

toronto pumpkin parades 2017

Toronto pumpkin parades are one of our city’s quirky delights and we are lucky to live and work within glowing distance of one of the best.

Sorauren Park is the home of the original Toronto Pumpkin Parade and visitors can expect to see well over 2000 jack o’ lanterns on display this year. This little neighbourhood event has inspired 34 parks in Toronto to host their own parades on the day after Hallowe’en.

We’ll keep posting links as the details arrive but as of October 15th, here’s the scoop on the best gourds in town. Meanwhile, check out our Top Ten Hallowe’en Events for families right here.

A little history of Toronto Pumpkin Parades from the Friends of Sorauren Park…  did you know that the Sorauren event was launched by neighbours in 2004 and has sparked similar events across TorontoMontreal (Parade des Citrouilles) and in New York City. It has been blogged in Copenhagen.

Just think about it for a minute – this beautiful annual tradition began as the spark of an idea, was fanned by neighbours, supported by a community and has grown to become an international phenomenon, quietly glowing away in the Hallowe’en memories of thousands upon thousands of children. Nice job.

If you are looking to host your own Pumpkin Parade in Toronto, here’s the link to everything you need to know from the city but hurry, permits are due October 13th.
