The Monkey Bunch kicks off the 2nd Annual Family Series at the Drake this Sunday. Skip the Superbowl and shake it with your kids instead!
MY CHILD, MY CITY – Johanne, mother of Sabreena, 1 year old, and Jayden, 3 1/2 years old.
Johanne was introduced to the Little Paper when we shot this photo. She is looking forward to picking it up in September at the Brentwood Library.
In September, Jayden will be attending a free preschool program at Room2grow at Westway United Church, a great community of parents and children. He already attends the Early Years drop-in program there but is very excited to be going “to school” without mommy. Johanne and her kids are also part of the mom’s group at CBS (Community Bible Study). Jayden loves the year-end recital when the children dress up and sing all the songs they learned in front of their parents.
With a new school year, comes a new challenge - snacks and lunches. What kind of snacks/lunches are foolproof with your kids?
“Well I have a picky 3 year old and an easy going 18 month old so I make waffles with rolled oats. The thing I love about waffles and crepes is that I can serve them for breakfast with fruit, for lunch with cheese and yogurt or at dinner time with ice cream!”
The best thing about my kids? “They are both very good travelers. We are from Montreal so we go there at least twice a year and they love it in the car: singing, napping and playing while we get to our destination. We are thinking of taking a road trip to Florida when they’re a little older.”
