By choice or by chance, lots of families find themselves without a car but that doesn’t mean they miss out on summer road trips! Here are some of our favourites…
Road Trips into the Woods
We really like Park Bus‘ Active Day trips like this Saturday’s Hike in Awenda or their trip to the Warsaw Caves in August, and you can take the bus to a dozen green getaways near and far like Lion’s Head, Algonquin Park, Georgian Bay, Christie Lake (there’s even a waterfall shuttle bus) and Kelso Conservation Area (with its wonderful beach!). Toronto Adventures also hosts kid-friendly day trips to Elora Gorge that include tubing.

The Bluffer’s Park Loop is a seasonal route from the TTC that takes you straight to the beach. You can also catch the Go Train to Rouge Hill station and then take a leisurely 20-25 minute waterfront stroll to Rouge Beach. Going the other direction, the westbound Lakeshore GO Train from Union Station will land you just a ten-minute walk from the lovely Blue flag beach in Maria Curtis park in Etobicoke!
Diehard Hillside families can even catch a bus to the festival on July 12th – details here!
